What is also true is that because it is not sealed, it can (and does) begin to leak in certain cases. A half-filled or non-filled canister style coil is going to leave you on the side of the road. If the oil filled coil is not completely full of oil and mounted in any other position other that verticle it can heat up the exposed wire.
